Random February Pictures

Here are some random pictures from the end of January and beginning of February. They don't necessarily need a blog post of their own, so I thought I'd cram them here.

It's been a while since I've run a 5K in under 30 minutes....one of the perks of running with someone faster than you!

100 days of school wore him out!

a terrible virus visited our house! Ben was so sick for 5 days!

I got a great Groupon deal on these canvases. I just love them!!!

U Pick It!

Today we joined Mrs. Piller and Landon on a strawberry picking adventure! There's a strawberry field in Lake Wales off Lake Buffum road that lets you pick your own strawberries. Three quarts cost $1, so Jeremy, Ben and I picked 12 quarts. Ben loved picking the strawberries. They're one of his favorite fruits...he eats them almost every morning with a waffle. Ben also loved getting to hang out with Landon while picking strawberries and having lunch at Frostbite together. They are sweet, sweet boys!

Highland's County Fair

Jeremy and I took Ben to the Highland's County Fair this afternoon. It was cold so we had to bundle up! Ben enjoyed seeing all of the animals, but wasn't interested in the rides at all. He had his first bag of cotton candy and didn't like that either. Maybe he'll warm up to the fair as he gets older. Grandma and Grandpa met us there and we enjoyed a great dinner at Olive Garden after the fair.

Ben loved the animals, but not the stinky smell!

Valentine's Day

We had fun celebrating Valentine's day today. I got several valentines from my students, including a "love gram" from one of my boys in 6th period. I just thought that was so precious! Ben had a fun party in preschool and exchanged valentines with his friends. We had fun going through his loot after school. Jeremy and I got Ben a cookie pizza that he just loved! It was huge!!!

We are alive!

Hi, blog peeps!

I just wanted to write a quick note to let you all know that the Byrd family is alive. We have had a crazy few weeks! Baseball season is back in full swing (pun intended), Ben caught a virus last week (we think the rotavirus), Jeremy had it at the beginning of this week, my very good friend had major surgery to remove breast cancer, I've been studying like a mad woman for a big test that's coming up soon, and a teacher from another school is coming to watch me teach a lesson for two days (so she can learn a new method the School Board is implementing). Lots going on over here! I will update with fun pictures as soon as I can. Until then, pray for my sanity! I need to make it just a few more weeks and things should slow down.

Animal Kingdom

Since Ben finally seems back to normal, we decided to take him to Animal Kingdom today. He loved exploring the theme park and seeing all of the animals. Our favorite was the Kilimanjaro Safari. We learned all about Okapi from an episode of Go Diego, so it was neat to see them on the safari! We only stayed a few hours so we didn't wear him out, so we are definitely planning to go back another day.

Ben wanted to bring Mtambo, the safari train, along.

Hall of Fame Gala

Tonight, Jeremy and I attended Frostproof Bulldog Booster's Hall of Fame Gala. Three very deserving men were inducted for their athletic achievements and contributions to our school. There was a silent auction and a live auction that turned out to be quite entertaining! Thousands of dollars were raised for our athletes at FHS. It was so nice to get dressed up after a week of dealing with sickness. Miss Ashton babysat for us. Ben loves his Miss Ashton. They made fun arts & crafts, played games and watched Little Rascals.

I enjoyed hanging out with Andy & Lucy tonight. So thankful for those that support our student athletes!
