Epcot

We used our annual passes again today to check out Epcot. This was Ben and Grandpa's first visit! Today was also the Walt Disney World Marathon. We got to see so many awesome runners tackling the 26.2 miles! They are such an inspiration to me. I don't think I'll ever want to run a marathon, but it was really neat watching them. One lady was running with a beer in her hand with one mile to go! She sure deserved it.

Ben didn't want to ride anything today, but he enjoyed eating popcorn and exploring. We had burgers for lunch, then headed to France for dessert. Jeremy had a neopolitan, I had a lemon tart and Ben had the biggest chocolate chip cookie I've ever seen. Everything was so delicious! Grandma & Grandpa entertained Ben while Jeremy and I rode Soarin'--a flight that takes you over the state of California. We had so much fun "hang gliding" over the Golden Gate Bridge, redwood forests, ski slopes and waves. After our fun at Epcot, we took the monorail over to the Magic Kingdom so Ben could ride a few things.

I just love our passes and we can't wait for our next Disney adventure! I think Animal Kingdom is next on the agenda.

THIRTY

It feels very strange to title this post "THIRTY." I woke up expecting to feel different, since I'm entering a new decade and all, but felt very much the same as the day before. I remember my mother turning 30 and thinking it was so old!

I am definitely excited about this next chapter in my life. I spent the night with my family doing two things that I really enjoy: bowling and eating pizza! Bring it, THIRTY! I'm ready for you!

New Year's Day at Gaylord Palms

After eating a traditional New Year's lunch with Grandma & Grandpa Byrd, we headed to our favorite hotel for the night. The weather was pretty warm for January so we let Ben swim in the heated pool. After swimming, we had dinner at Wrecker's and watched a little football. Then we headed out to the big lawn to play a few games of tag and relax by the fire place. We headed back inside around 6:30 to catch the shows in the Emerald Plaza. A group called Luminescence performed some very good remixes of our favorite Christmas songs. We had so much fun singing along and watching the performance! After the show, we let Ben ride up and down the escalators, then headed back to the room to get ready for bedtime. We all slept in late the next morning and had a quick breakfast before checking out. We did a little shopping at the Mall at Millenia before going home. It was a great little trip to begin 2013!
